Maintenance
Wood Fences We offer an extensive line of residential wood fence and gate installation. Whether you want a privacy, picket, or boundary fence, there are many wooden fence style options you can make a choice. We can also customize any type of wooden fence to meet your need. All of our wooden fences are completely built on- site, not prefabricated by manufacturers in panels. We offer two choices of material, Natural Cedar and Pressure Treated-Lumber. Either material can be painted or stained. Natural Cedar: Cedar remains one of the most popular species in wood fencing for its unbeatable quality, appearance and longevity. Cedar contains its own natural oils that act as preservatives make the wood resistant to decay and insect attack, increasing its durability and weatherability without the use of chemical treatments. Above all, the wood has a beauty all its own with colors, grains, and textures unmatched by any other fencing material. If you want to retain its own color, a clear coat of stain need to be applied. Otherwise, it will turn to gray color within a year or two after installation. Properly constructed and maintained, cedar fence will look good for years, adding prestige and value to your home and garden. Pressure-Treated: Pressured-Treated is wood that has undergone a process to make it more durable so that it is not susceptible to water, rot, termites or fungus. Pressure-treated wood is generally cost less than cedar. However, there was along controversial debate about an environmental impact and the safety of using pressure-treated wood. Some people prefer to use pressure-treated wood for economic reasons.
In addition, we offer Post on Pipe fence system, built to stand for years. Generally, wood fences fall over as result of posts deteriorating from insects, rot, and passage of time. Traditionally, most fencing companies use chemically-treated lumbers that are buried directly in the ground, however, these posts don't last long enough. At our company we offer wooden fence posts that could last a life time, by using Post on Pipe with top grade natural western red cedar. Each 4x4 is mounted on Schedule 40 galvanized pipe, the same kind that is used for underground water. The post and the pipe are connected by using two heavy-duty carriage bolts which provide excellent stability for its foundation.
Fence Styles: You can choose the fence style that complements your house and creates the kind of privacy you want. You can also design your own fence if you wish; we will be happy to work with your design. We can also replicate any style if you provide us with a photo. An Arbor, trellis and pergola can be incorporated with fence systems creating your own personal touch. Visual Impacts:  A fence provides a natural way for obscuring the neighborhood surroundings. The height of the fence, the geography of the land and the relative distance of an observer affect both the amount of privacy of a fence and its degree of visual impact. Consider what you do and don't want to see of neighborhood surroundings. Gate Sizes: Wood gates can be in any size within maximum limitations. Never make a wood gate wider than necessary. Generally, 3.5ft wide walk gate is wide enough. Every foot adds weight that will eventually make the gate more prone to sagging. If it is necessary to have a wider gate, then a 6ft double swing gate may be installed. In other words, your choice is either a 3.5ft wide single gate or a 6ft double swing gate. Utility Meters: Locate all your utility meters before deciding where the fence line will be. You might try to avoid having any utility meter inside the fence. If a meter is planned inside the fence, your gate may have to be unlocked so utility companies can read their meters. Municipality Regulations: Generally, a fence can be built without a permit in most locations if the fence is 6 feet in height or lower. However, every municipality has its own regulations and requirements for fences and should be determined before construction. A permit is usually required before construction to build a fence higher than 6 feet. Your Neighbors: Before a fence is built, just to be nice, to obtain consensus with your next door neighbors on the style, height, orientation, and finish of the proposed fence. It is also wise to verify the official property line before the fencing starts. If you know you will be needing a survey, we will recommend a private licensed land surveyor for a fraction of the price of a city government.
